A transport truck crashed into a guardrail and spilled 150 litres of diesel on Highway 6 near Book Road in Hamilton on Dec. 29, 2025 (@OPP_HSD/X).

A portion of Highway 6 near the Hamilton airport is closed Monday after a transport truck crashed and spilled 150 litres of diesel.

Ontario Provincial Police say the single-vehicle collision happened around 10 a.m. on Highway 6 near Book Road.

Investigators say the transport truck drove off the highway and struck a guardrail, which caused the diesel leak.

No one was injured as a result of the crash and the cause is under investigation.

The southbound lanes of Highway 6 are expected to be closed for several hours as crews clean up the diesel. The northbound lanes remain open.
