Toonie-sized hail along with wind gusts hitting up to 90 km/h could be approaching Ontario’s southwestern tip later today.
A severe thunderstorm watch has been put in place for the area, which includes Brantford, Six Nations, Caledonia, and the Haldimand-Norfolk region as of 3:30 p. m.
The federal weather agency expressed high confidence in its forecast.
“Showers and thunderstorms are expected to intensify early this afternoon. Once the storms have intensified there is a risk of a brief tornado,” it said. “Local utility outages are possible.”
