Guelph police are looking into incidents where a south-end place of worship was vandalized with hateful graffiti on two occasions over the past few weeks.
Authorities report that there have been two documented cases since late May in which the place of worship was marked with hate-related graffiti.
“We want to assure the public that we take all reported crime, including hate-motivated crime, very seriously,” wrote the Guelph Police Service in a release. “In all incidents, resources are utilized to ensure a thorough investigation is conducted. All of our officers receive training in hate-motivated criminal offences.”
Police mentioned it’s uncertain if the two recent acts are connected, but both cases are being examined by the Hate Crime Investigative Unit.
If anyone has information regarding the vandalism, they can email Hate Crime Investigative Group@guelphpolice. ca or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
