Guelph police are looking into an incident that resulted in a woman’s death after she and her family were hit by a pickup truck on Friday afternoon.
Authorities report that emergency services arrived at the intersection of Paisley Road and Alma Street North shortly after 5 p. m.
According to police, a man and woman were walking with their three-year-old daughter in a stroller when they were struck by the truck while using the crosswalk.
The family was transported to a hospital, where the 38-year-old mother unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.
The father, also 38 years old, received treatment for minor injuries, while their daughter was airlifted to a trauma center in Hamilton but was released from the hospital later that evening.
A 19-year-old man from northern Ontario who was driving the pickup stayed at the scene and did not sustain any injuries.
