A 61-year-old woman from Kingston, Ont., lost her life when her snowmobile crashed into a pickup truck northwest of her hometown on Thursday, as reported by Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

The incident took place around 3:15 p. m. on County Road 5 east of Newburgh Road in Loyalist Township, according to police.

The identity of the victim has not been released, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities noted that no one in the truck sustained injuries.

An Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs trail runs across County Road 5 in that area, but an OPP spokesperson could not specify the exact location where the crash occurred.

The investigation is ongoing.
