U. S. President Donald Trump’s recent trade decisions are adding to the worries facing his Republican Party ahead of the midterm elections in November, putting Senate Republican candidates in a tough spot with another economic challenge as they try to maintain their majority.
Recently, Trump announced plans for tariff relief on certain ground beef imports, causing outrage among cattle producers in states like Iowa and Nebraska. He also sparked a new trade dispute with Canada, unsettling manufacturers and businesses in border states such as Maine, Michigan, Alaska, and Ohio.
These states are all key battlegrounds for Senate seats that are vital to the Democrats’ plan to regain control of the chamber.
