OTTAWA – Two federal public service unions say the Immigration Division is ready to chop 3,300 jobs.
The Public Service Alliance of Canada and the Canada Employment and Immigration Union say in a joint assertion that the division has not mentioned who shall be affected by the cuts.
The unions say extra info is predicted in mid-February however that the cuts have been introduced up in a union-management assembly earlier than employees have been notified.
The unions say employees on the division are important to the work of processing citizenship and everlasting residency functions, issuing passports and conducting interviews.
Each unions are urging the federal government to chop down on outdoors contracting as a substitute of downsizing employees.
