Burlington Fire says they responded to reports of a fire at an apartment on Lakeshore Road on May 17, 2026 (Duncan Pitkeathly/CHCH News).

Burlington firefighters rushed to an apartment fire on Lakeshore Road Sunday afternoon after receiving multiple reports about smoke and flames.

According to Burlington Fire Chief Drew Boys, heavy smoke and visible flames were noticed around 12:45 p. m. coming from a top-floor apartment unit.

He mentioned that eight units were deployed at the scene and quickly managed to bring the fire under control.

Boys noted that Halton police and paramedics assisted during the incident, but thankfully there were no injuries reported for anyone in the area or for emergency personnel present.

He added that residents are being allowed back into their homes while crews continue with overhaul and ventilation work.

The Office of the Fire Marshal has been informed, and Burlington Fire investigators will look into what caused the fire.
