The Devilrays are starting their rebuild today at the Swim Ontario Championships held at the Toronto Pan Am pool in Toronto, where Ella Markowsky finished in second place in the Women’s 50-metre freestyle.
Markowsky clocked in with a time of 27.17 seconds.
Bao Chau Clara Tran from the Oakville Club took first place with a time of 27.00 seconds.
Devilrays Coach Sergei Soloukhin with Ella Markowsky
Coach Sergei Soloukhin has been focused on building up the Burlington Aquatic Devilrays (BAD) for several years. After losing pool time in city venues, they had to switch to practicing at the YMCA. “We lost close to half our membership that year,” said Soloukhin.
This time around, Markowsky was the only female swimmer representing BAD in Toronto.
A trio of boys competing in the 11 age category performed well but didn’t secure any podium spots.
