A 61-year-old man from Hamilton has been charged following a tragic hit-and-run incident that resulted in a pedestrian’s death in Burlington, according to police.
The accident took place on Aug. 27 when the woman was struck by a vehicle near Maple Avenue and Richmond Road, as reported by Halton Regional Police.
<p Sadly, she was declared dead at the scene by the authorities.
Halton police had been searching for a dark-colored sedan that had “damage to the front of the vehicle.”
The man was apprehended in Oakville on Tuesday and faces charges for failing to stop after an accident that caused death, according to a news release issued Wednesday morning.
He has since been released from custody and is set to appear in court on Nov. 26.
