Peel police are looking into a suspected arson at an auto repair shop in Brampton after two tow trucks and other vehicles were discovered on fire Tuesday morning.
Fire crews arrived at the scene following reports of multiple vehicles ablaze in a business lot near Rutherford Road S. and Orenda Road around 3:15 a. m., Const. Amanda Steenson informed reporters at the site.
Authorities are searching for two individuals seen pouring gasoline on the tow trucks, Steenson mentioned. One suspect was dressed in a white shirt and grey pants.
Surveillance footage from the property obtained by reveals someone walking around the tow trucks and another vehicle. The video captures them seemingly soaking one of the trucks with an unknown liquid just before it bursts into flames, which then spread to nearby vehicles.

No injuries were reported from the fire, and there’s no indication of any threat to public safety, according to Steenson. She stated that police are still trying to figure out what motivated this incident.
This location is close to where another suspected arson occurred last week when several tow trucks were set ablaze near Rutherford and Glidden roads. At that time, police had received reports of multiple people setting fires to trucks before fleeing.
Police are exploring a possible connection between these two suspected arsons, Steenson noted.
