A 22-year-old man has been charged with extortion and conspiracy to commit murder following two violent events in Brampton, Peel police report.
This arrest comes as part of an investigation into a criminal organization known as For Brothers, according to a news release issued Thursday.
The first incident took place on April 21, when a business in Brampton was targeted in a shooting around 2:50 a. m. Investigators discovered 14 shell casings at the location, and the suspect drove away in a silver Honda Civic, as stated in the release.
<p Later, on May 26, the same individual aimed a gun at another man who was leaving his house around 8 p. m. In that situation, the weapon jammed and the man managed to escape unharmed. The suspect was seen fleeing in a grey Acura Integra, police reported.
On June 23, Edmonton police detained the 22-year-old during a traffic stop where they discovered drugs along with an illegal loaded firearm, according to the news release. At that moment, he faced charges related to firearms and drug offenses.
Three days later, he was brought back to Ontario and hit with additional charges for extortion and murder-related offenses.
Peel police indicated that the man has been denied bail and remains behind bars.
