Region of Peel – Detectives from the 22 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) have taken a woman into custody for her involvement in multiple rental fraud cases in Brampton.
From May 2025 to February 2026, the suspect reportedly posted listings for homes, including basement apartments, on various social media sites. Victims entered rental agreements and paid deposits covering the first and last month’s rent. Upon arriving at the properties with their belongings, many victims found that the rentals were unavailable, often after having already vacated their previous homes.
Authorities have uncovered 17 separate incidents resulting in total losses of over $60,000. None of the victims received the promised housing or had their funds refunded.
On July 13, Savreet Kaur, 27 years old and from Brampton, was arrested and now faces charges for:
Fraud Over $5,000 x38 Obstruct Police
The accused is currently being held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice.
