If you usually grab your favorite beer from the Beer Store at Fletcher’s Meadow Plaza, today (March 22) is your final opportunity to do so.
This location, situated at Bovaird Drive West and Worthington Avenue close to Chinguacousy Road, will be closing its doors for good as the Beer Store continues to cut back across Ontario.
It’s one of several stores in the province that will have its last day today.
In the past few years, the Beer Store held a monopoly on selling beer in Ontario, but that’s changed.
Starting in October 2024, the Ontario government allowed grocery stores and later convenience stores to sell beer and alcohol, which has taken away sales from traditional Beer Store outlets.
A representative from the Beer Store mentioned that these closures are necessary as consumers adjust to new buying options for their preferred drinks.
“We are making the tough decision to close these retail stores. To serve customers, we continue to operate alternative locations in each of these markets,” said Ozzie Ahmed, the vice president of retail at The Beer Store. “As a business, we are focused on operating a retail network that meets evolving consumer needs, providing the largest selection of beer and a world-class deposit return system.”
This isn’t Brampton’s first time losing a Beer Store location.
Last September, the store at Sandalwood Parkway East and Bramalea Road closed permanently.
Five Beer Stores will remain open in Brampton

The other stores shutting down today are located in Etobicoke, Hamilton, and London.
With these upcoming closures, nearly 90 Beer Stores will have closed across Ontario since last year began.
