Adam Myshak, 28, is wanted on charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Update (12 p. m.)

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in finding a man linked to a serious assault that took place early Saturday morning in Barrie.

Adam Myshak, from Barrie, is being sought in connection with this incident. He faces charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

If you see Myshak or have any information about where he might be, please do not approach him but contact the police instead.

Original story (9 a. m.)

A Barrie man was taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition early Saturday morning after an assault.

Just after midnight on April 11, city police received reports about a man who had been stabbed near Anne Street North and Donald Street.

The 43-year-old victim was initially taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre before being transferred to a trauma center in Toronto.

Police have named a 28-year-old man from Barrie as the suspect, and charges are forthcoming.

The suspect has been identified but has not yet been arrested, according to police statements made just before 8:30 a. m. Saturday.

Anyone who may have seen what happened or has dash cam footage or other video recordings from the area is encouraged to reach out to the police.

Nearby roads were briefly closed during the investigation but reopened around 4:30 a. m.
