A Barrie man was taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition early Saturday morning after an assault. Just after midnight on April 11, city police received reports about a man who had been stabbed near Anne Street North and Donald Street. The 43-year-old victim was initially taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre before being transferred to a trauma center in Toronto. Police have named a 28-year-old man from Barrie as the suspect, and charges are forthcoming. The suspect has been identified but has not yet been arrested, according to police statements made just before 8:30 a. m. Saturday. Anyone who may have seen what happened or has dash cam footage or other video recordings from the area is encouraged to reach out to the police.
