The 11-year-old boy sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries while trying to escape from the dog, according to police.

Barrie police describe the animal as a large bully breed, likely a mastiff, with light brown fur and a red leash attached to its collar.

The last sighting of the dog was reported near Dove Crescent around 12:30 p. m. on Monday.
