Police Looking for Another Teen in Barrie Assault

A disturbing video of a fight between two teenage girls on Friday night in downtown Barrie has led police to search for more suspects and witnesses.

After a 16-year-old girl was brutally attacked at Kempenfest in Barrie, Ont., on Friday, authorities are now seeking a second teen involved.

According to Barrie police, this girl is thought to have participated in the assault on July 31 that resulted in the victim needing treatment at a hospital before being released later.

In an interview with , the mother of the assaulted girl shared that her daughter mentioned a glass jar being thrown, which started the fight. The altercation then moved out onto the street at the intersection of Lakeshore and Victoria Street.

“She was completely passed out like a rag doll on the cement, and they kept kicking her, and everyone is standing by watching and laughing and cheering and videotaping,” said the mom, who asked to remain anonymous while speaking with .

“Not one person stepped in.”

15-Year-Old Charged After Altercation

A viral clip shows a violent attack as a group of youths looked on. Many recorded it while encouraging the fight.

On Wednesday, police took into custody a 15-year-old girl related to this incident. Authorities confirmed Thursday to that she was released after being charged and is expected back in court at an unspecified date.

Video from the event depicts another girl punching the victim before hovering over her again to kick her before stepping back.

While Barrie police won’t confirm if this is indeed the individual they’re looking for due to privacy concerns regarding minors, they affirm that another youth is believed to be connected to the assault.

Police are urging anyone with information about this incident to come forward. Those who were part of what happened are also encouraged to reach out to Barrie police.

Throughout their investigation, authorities expressed disappointment over bystanders who recorded and cheered during the conflict.

They remind everyone that under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, sharing any identifying information about individuals under 18 involved in criminal matters-whether as victims or suspects-is against the law.
