The search is still in progress on Lake Muskoka after a man from Bracebridge went overboard and vanished.
Provincial police reported that around 5:45 p. m. on Wednesday, the OPP Marine Unit received an emergency call from a boater saying someone had fallen out of their boat and hadn’t come back up.
According to authorities, a couple was heading back to Bracebridge in their boat when they encountered rapidly changing weather conditions in the Sandy Bay area near Bowyers Beach, making it hard to navigate.
Police say that a 67-year-old man onboard fell into the water and was struggling. Nearby residents heard the calls for help and rushed to assist in boats, but the man has not yet been found.
The OPP Marine Unit and Underwater Search and Recovery Unit are continuing their efforts today.
