The Ontario Tradition Days competition featured 1,853 free group occasions throughout each area of the province, making it Ontario’s largest and most numerous celebration of arts, tradition, and heritage this 12 months in each scale and geographic attain.

The autumn competition, lasting three weeks from Sept. 20 to Oct. 13, featured occasions throughout varied municipalities, together with 15 official provincial Pageant Hubs.

At the moment, Ontario Tradition Days is happy to announce the group recipients of the Highlight Award, acknowledged for creating the highest applications of the competition, together with the general public’s alternative for the most-loved occasion.

“With its wide selection of activities, exhibitions and innovative programming, the 2024 Ontario Culture Days festival was a tremendous success,” stated Stan Cho, minister of tourism, tradition and gaming. “Yearly, this participating fall competition permits audiences of all ages to expertise the perfect Ontario has to supply, whereas boosting native companies throughout the province.

The Highlight Awards proceed to honour the exemplary efforts of people and organizations throughout Ontario who’ve hosted arts and tradition occasions and actions for his or her communities, with classes together with Greatest In-Individual Program, Greatest Collaborative Program and Individuals’s Alternative.

In its dedication to inclusivity, Ontario Tradition Days as soon as once more will award the Warren Garrett Inclusive Programming Award, established in 2023. This award acknowledges organizers whose management has formed competition programming that breaks down boundaries and fosters a extra equitable arts and tradition sector in Ontario.

Named in honour of Warren Garrett, a founding board member of Ontario Tradition Days and former govt director of Ontario Presents, it celebrates his dedication as an arts chief and advocate for group cultural growth.

Nature’s Threads

Organized by Ebru Winegard, alongside Inventive Barrie on the Metropolis of Barrie

(Barrie, Ont.)

Nature’s Threads was an inclusive weaving workshop impressed by the custom of Turkish tapestries. Led by Turkish-Canadian artist Ebru Winegard, contributors used pure supplies to create woven artworks reflecting environmental stewardship, private empowerment, and cultural change.

Tales of Peace Award Ceremony

Organized by Canadian Peace Museum

The Tales of Peace Award Ceremony on the Bancroft Village Playhouse included talks, peace crafts, a silent public sale, reside music, a screening of the finalist Tales of Peace movies, poetry by Maya Al-Jaber, artwork by Dave Maris and images by Nicolò Filippo Rosso documenting pressured migration within the Americas.

Paris Birds for Variety

Organized by Carolina Saenz from La Trenza Tacos, Lisa Franklin from Forest and People, and Mountain WoodWork Canada

Paris Birds for Variety invited contributors to color birds representing their id and origins utilizing supplies like cardboard, sawdust, and corn husks. The birds have been displayed throughout downtown Paris, with a important exhibit at The Paris Wincey Mills Co., to rejoice variety on this rising group.

Warren Garrett Inclusive Programming Award

Performing the Apocalypse: A Efficiency Artwork Workshop with Megan Arnold

Organized by Jude Akrey, facilitated by Megan Arnold

This full-day workshop on the theme ‘apocalypse’ inspired contributors to remodel their susceptible experiences as queer people into efficiency artwork. The workshop included discussions, improvisation, and collaborative workouts, culminating in an ensemble efficiency.
