A Go Fund Me campaign has been launched to assist a family in Ontario who tragically lost five young children – aged 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 – when their van collided with an SUV in a rural area north of Kitchener on Friday night.

Five other family members, including a toddler, as well as the driver of the SUV were taken to hospital for various injuries.

As of late Monday afternoon, $153,845 had been raised toward a goal of $250,000.

“My family is living through a tragedy that no one should ever have to face,” wrote Nancy Doerksen in the Go Fund Me.

“In a devastating accident, we lost five precious children who were deeply loved by all of us. The heartbreak and grief are beyond words, and our family is trying to navigate an unimaginable reality while supporting one another through this painful time.”

Doerksen mentioned that their mother faces “a long road ahead,” as she recovers while still hospitalized.

“Our mom remains in hospital suffering from multiple injuries, including injuries to her kidney, liver, gallbladder, broken ribs and pelvic bone along with extensive bruising and trauma,” she wrote.

Doerksen said they created this fundraiser “to help ease financial burdens facing our family like funeral expenses travel costs lost income , and other unexpected needs due to such tragic loss This support will allow us focus on healing recovery being together during this incredibly difficult time”
