Stock photo A number of ceremonies will take place across the area for Remembrance Day. Events are set throughout this month, starting as soon as this Sunday and mostly happening on Monday, including at Victoria Park Cenotaph in Woodstock. OXFORD COUNTY – Various locations in the region will be holding ceremonies for Remembrance Day, including Woodstock. The Tillsonburg Military History Club is putting together an exhibit at the Tillsonburg Arts Centre as part of the Week of Remembrance, which runs from November 5th to 12th. It’s open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm but closed on Sundays. The Plattsville and District Heritage Society had help from dignitaries and a Cadet Contingent in laying wreaths at the Chesterfield Cenotaph yesterday. After the service, there were displays and refreshments available. The Tavistock Legion Branch 518 also held a ceremony on November 10th at 1:00 pm. The Princeton Museum and Library has a ceremony planned for today at 10:30 am. Today, there will also be an event at the Victoria Park Cenotaph in Woodstock starting at 11:00 am. Roads will be closed including Graham Street from Hunter to Buller Street. Additionally, roads will close on Buller Street from Riddell Street to Light Street. Other ceremonies are scheduled today at both the Tillsonburg and Ingersoll Cenotaphs. Each location has events planned for 11:00 am. There’ll be a brief church service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on 131 Thames Street North in Ingersoll beginning at 9:45 am before a parade makes its way back to the Ingersoll Town Hall for wreath-laying. After that, everyone is welcome to join the Legion for lunch and refreshments. A variety of ceremonies are set to take place in Norwich on November 11th. The Norwich Legion Branch, Norwich Cenotaph, and Emily Stowe Public School will host events starting at 11:00 am. An Evening with Norm Christie is scheduled in Woodstock on November 29th. This event will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 55 on Dundas Street. Christie will present “Woodstock Masters of War, The Rise of the Canadian Corps during the Great War.” Tickets are priced at $80.00 and seating is limited to just 100 attendees.
