Montreal police have reported that Christopher Watts – a 66-year-old sex offender who was on the run – was taken into custody in Hamilton, Ontario, on Tuesday.
Last week, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) informed the media that the man was spotted in the Montreal area after breaching his Correctional Service Canada (CSC) supervision conditions.
The sex offender surveillance team from Montreal had been helping CSC with its investigation. The CSC has since updated the SPVM about the man’s arrest.
This man from Ontario was convicted for his role in the drug-overdose death of 13-year-old Amanda Raymond back in 2001 and completed a full 12-year sentence for manslaughter, sexual assault, and sexual interference before being released.
The high-risk offender has faced multiple detentions over the years and was under a long-term supervision order.
