Even though summer hasn’t officially begun, we’re about to feel some serious summer heat.

Environment Canada has issued a yellow heat warning for Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, and Sarnia-Lambton, starting Wednesday and lasting through at least Thursday.

The weather agency predicts daytime highs could exceed 30 C, with nighttime temperatures staying above 20 C, giving us little break from the warmth.

Humidex values might range from 36 C to 40 C.

“The heat event may continue Friday into Saturday, although confidence is low at this stage,” read the warning from Environment Canada. “Areas near Lake Huron and Lake Erie will likely be cooler.”

If you have to work outside, make sure to drink plenty of water and apply sunscreen. For anyone without air conditioning at home, consider visiting a cooling centre, community centre, library, or shaded park.

Environment Canada recommends planning outdoor tasks during the cooler parts of the day if you can. And always remember not to leave people or pets in parked cars on hot days.
