It is with great sadness that we share the unexpected passing of Zenon Patrick Lipinski at the age of 76 at Trillium Hospital in Mississauga.
He is survived by his daughter Tracey Lipinski and his son Zeny Lipinski (Jennifer), along with his grandchildren Zachery, Kaitlyn, Zenon and Emily. He was predeceased by his loving wife Patricia Lipinski (Wilkinson) and sister Wanda Kerr(Lipinski).
Born in Poland, young Zenon moved to Canada during WWII with his father and sister. He spent much of his life in Brampton before relocating to Orangeville to raise his son with Patty, where he remained until his final days.
Zenon dedicated 35 years to the Peel District School Board. He also had a remarkable lacrosse career lasting 60 years. In 1974 and 1975, he was part of the Philadelphia Wings professional lacrosse team. Earlier in 1971, he won a Mann Cup as a player for the Brantford Warriors. Throughout his extensive career, Zenon received many awards and accolades including several Mann Cups as a General Manager for the Brampton Excelsiors Organization. Currently, he is proud to be a member of the Brampton Sports Hall of Fame, Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame, and Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
During retirement, Zenon enjoyed spending time comfortably with his son and family in Amaranth, ON. Every year at winter’s first sign, he’d take an Air Canada flight to Brazil. He loved reminiscing about time spent with friends down south while enjoying sweet mangos and cold beers on the beach. In later years, you could find him cheering on his grandchildren in their sports from home.
Zenon was known for his generosity and will be remembered by all whose lives he impacted both personally and professionally.
The visitation will occur at Wards Funeral Home in Brampton on August 6th from 2-4 PM and again from 7-9 PM. The Service will take place at St. Mary’s Church in Brampton at 10:30 AM on August 7 followed by a gathering at Dixon Union Cemetery in Caledon where Zenon will rest beside his wife.
If desired memorial donations can be made to Brampton Minor Lacrosse in Zenon’s name where a memorial fund will be established to assist disadvantaged youth getting started in lacrosse within Brampton.
