The family of Alan P. Willway, who lived in Regina and previously in Yorkton, announces with heavy hearts his passing on May 30, 2026. He was the loving husband of the late Elizabeth Willway.
The Funeral Service is set for Thursday, June 11 at 2:00 p. m. at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre.

May 30, 1929 – May 30, 2026 Alan Philip Willway passed away peacefully on his 97th birthday, surrounded by his loving family on May 30, 2026. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. Alan was predeceased by his wife of 72 years, Elizabeth Willway; his parents Frederick and Helen Willway; and his sister Joan Maynard. His memory will be cherished by his daughters Verone (Barry) Charington and Verity Willway (Roger Perzan); his five beloved grandchildren Verenna (Ryan) Maduck, Vanessa (Ryan) Bourlon, Braden Charington, Brittany (Kelly) Ashburner, and Layne (Natasia) Peterson; along with seven adored great-grandchildren Madeleine, Charlotte, Raya, Owen, James, Julian and Millie. He will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews as well as extended family members and dear friends. Born on May 30, 1929 in Davidson Saskatchewan to proud parents Fred and Helen Willway; from a young age he formed a strong bond with farming life. He attended Cotham School riding on his beloved horse Trixie who was always there for him. Later on he took over the family farm which he managed with dedication and pride. Farming wasn’t just a job for him but a way of living that he truly loved. As both a grain farmer and cattleman he poured himself into working the land while caring for livestock with pride through every season’s harvests. His commitment to agriculture earned him recognition in 1989 when he received the Century Family Farm Award during Saskatchewan’s Centennial Celebration acknowledging BELLE-VIEW Farm’s century-long ownership from 1889-1989. On October 31st ,1951 Alan married Elizabeth Gelmich at St. Andrew’s United Church in Yorkton where their love story began-a partnership built upon mutual support that lasted an incredible seventy-two years creating a family that became their greatest joy together. A firm believer in community service throughout his life; Alan dedicated time leading various organizations including ten years with Cotham School Board where four were spent as chairman; actively engaging for twenty years within Odd Fellows Lodge while representing Christ Church Cotham on Parish Council over three decades. He also spent twenty-six years serving on Yorkton Co-op Board alongside forty-four consecutive years helping out at Yorkton Credit Union Board plus chairing Valley Social Club for two decades leaving lasting impacts wherever he went through this commitment towards betterment around him! After more than fifty successful years working hard at farming-he decided it was time retire settling down near Crooked Lake where both could enjoy peaceful lake-life together! This new chapter opened doors filled exciting adventures like spending winters being snowbirds residing within Palm Shadows located Donna Texas forming unforgettable friendships along each trip! Eventually transitioning back again after five lovely condo-living-years shared among Betty’s sisters Mary & Rose before finally making their move closer toward family calling Green Falls Landing Regina homebase- cherishing all memories created surrounding those they loved most during these final stages! Living life fully meant finding happiness amidst simple pleasures enjoyed every day-that mantra held dear “Where there’s a will there’s away” embodied true meaning behind how daily challenges were approached keeping warm smiles paired twinkling blue eyes brightening up anyone nearby!
