Joyce Marie Rabata, 86, passed away at Marshfield Medical Center Beaver Dam on Sunday, February 8th.
Joyce was born on March 6th, 1939 in Sparta, WI, to Lawrence and Louise (Laufenberg) Nevin. She grew up in Ontario, Wisconsin, attended St. Mary’s Grade School in Norwalk, and graduated from Ontario High School. Before settling on the homestead on Opera Road, her family lived at the top of Wildcat Mountain, which later became a state park.
She met her soulmate John “Jack” Rabata in 1958 and they got married in August of 1959. Together they enjoyed 66 years of marriage living in Lake Geneva, Kenosha, and for the last 55 years in Beaver Dam.
Joyce worked as a medical records secretary for 34 years where she made many lifelong friends. Some of her best memories were those spent with her husband and children. She was a loving wife and mother as well as a grandmother and great-grandmother. Joyce particularly loved traveling with Jack to places like Hawaii, Spain, Ireland, Latin America and almost every state.
If you knew Joyce well, you’d know she had a passion for collecting… clothes, shoes, and jewelry.
