KITCHENER – Authorities in Kitchener, Ont., report that a man has been charged for taking a ceremonial gong from a cancer centre.
Waterloo Regional Police say they got a call earlier Monday about the theft at Midtown hospital.
The man allegedly took the gong from the cancer centre, managed by the Waterloo Regional Health Network, just over a week ago.
Gongs and bells are commonly used by patients in hospital cancer units to celebrate finishing their treatment.
According to police, the 44-year-old suspect faces charges for theft under $5,000 and was detained for a bail hearing.
They mention that the gong is still missing and urge anyone with information to reach out to police.
