An investigation into an auto theft that took place overnight in Oakville, involving a Toyota Sequoia, has led to multiple charges and the recovery of suspected stolen items.

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has arrested two individuals and charged them with several offenses following an auto theft case in Oakville. On May 25, 2026, HRPS responded to a home in Oakville regarding the theft of a Toyota Sequoia SUV. The suspects broke a window to enter the vehicle and then utilized a reprogramming device to start and drive away with it. Investigators tracked the suspects to an area in East York where they began surveillance. During this process, officers found additional stolen vehicles linked to the suspects. On May 27, 2026, Thyson Joseph (23) from Quebec was apprehended in East York and faces these charges: • Theft of Motor Vehicle
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 (two counts)
• Failure to Comply with Undertaking (two counts)
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 At his arrest, Joseph was already under two separate release orders for previous auto theft offenses. Joseph is currently held in custody while awaiting a bail hearing in Milton. Maika Lumumba (23) from Quebec was also taken into custody on May 27, 2026. She is charged with one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000. Officers executed a search warrant at a residence in East York and recovered: • An Acura sedan reported stolen from Montreal
• An Acura SUV reported stolen from Peel Region
• A reprogramming device
• Stolen license plates
