Emergency responders were dispatched to a house fire in Kitchener early Friday morning, which resulted in smoke visible over the flyover.
The alarm was raised shortly after midnight from the Weber Street East and Wilfred Avenue area.
This location is adjacent to Highway 8, near the flyover in Kitchener.
Motorists on the expressway and highway could still see smoke drifting eight hours after the initial fire report came in.
Police confirmed to 570 News Radio that no one was inside the Wilfred Avenue home when the fire broke out, and thankfully, no injuries were reported.
The damage to the house is considerable, prompting an investigation by the Ontario Fire Marshall. Kitchener Fire investigators are also present at the scene.

“Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke venting from the building, along with significant fire conditions on the main floor. Firefighters brought the fire under control and completed a search of the structure,” reads a release from the city.
“The building was undergoing renovations at the time of the incident and was unoccupied. The fire spread has caused extensive damage.”
City officials confirmed that no one was displaced due to this blaze.
The cause of the fire remains unclear at this stage.
No damage estimates have been provided as of Friday morning.
