TORONTO (May 22, 2026) – Canada Basketball has revealed the roster for the U18 Men’s National Team training camp as they gear up for the upcoming FIBA U18 Men’s Ameri Cup 2026.

After April’s Selection Camp Fuelled by Gatorade, which showcased 41 of the nation’s best athletes, the program moves into its next phase as players continue to vie for spots on the final roster ahead of this summer’s tournament.

“We’re looking forward to building off what was implemented during Easter Camp,” said Michael Meeks, Assistant General Manager of Men’s Basketball Operations at Canada Basketball. “This group has a lot of depth and talent at each position and is extremely versatile, with several athletes already bringing valuable FIBA experience from previous years. Our focus heading into training camp will be continuing to implement our style of play while building cohesion and chemistry in the lead-up to competition.”.

The team will practice at Humber College in Toronto from May 25-29 before heading to León, Mexico where the tournament will run from June 1 to 7.

Charles Hantoumakos has been appointed as head coach, marking his first role as head coach within Canada Basketball’s men’s high-performance program. Assisting Hantoumakos are coaches Dave De Aveiro, Murphy Burnatowski and Kyle Landry.

“Coach Hantoumakos has spent over a decade contributing to our national team programs and has a growing list of athletes who have gone on to impact teams at both the age-group and senior levels after playing under him,” Meeks added. “He has great familiarity with this group, and I expect him to get the most out of their abilities as they prepare to compete on the international stage.”.

<p“His staff also brings tremendous experience to the bench, with Dave De Aveiro involved in our programs for nearly three decades, while Murphy Burnatowsky and Kyle Landry both represented Canada internationally as players and now lead successful university programs as coaches.”.

The final roster of 12 athletes for the FIBA U18 Men’s Ameri Cup 2026 will be announced prior to competition beginning in León.
