COCHRANE – The Ontario Provincial Police from the James Bay Detachment are looking into a deadly snowmobile accident that occurred in the Town of Cochrane, located north of Timmins. Emergency crews arrived on the scene around 9 a. m.
Emergency crews responded around 9 a. m. on Saturday to a crash involving a snowmobile and a commercial motor vehicle at the intersection of OFSC Trail A and 2nd Street.
The snowmobile operator, a 19-year-old man from Vaughan, was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
No additional injuries were reported.
Members of the OPP Technical Incident Management and Enforcement Team, along with OPP Scenes of Crime Officers, are aiding in the investigation alongside the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario.
Police are urging anyone with information to reach out to the James Bay OPP or Crime Stoppers.
