On April 12, 2026 at about 3:15 p. m., officers arrived at Last Duel Park, where they found one person with severe injuries. The individual was taken to a trauma centre and was later pronounced dead. Initial reports indicate this is a single incident, with no evidence of a larger threat. Police are still investigating and are keeping a close watch on the situation. Residents in the area can expect to see more police around as officers continue their work. This investigation is being handled by Lanark County OPP under the guidance of the Criminal Investigation Branch, along with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
