Ontario’s Animal Welfare Services is looking into the case of three snakes that were abandoned outside Reptilia in Whitby.
According to a Facebook post, staff found three ball pythons inside a bin at their front entrance on the morning of March 7.
A note was attached to the snakes stating they had been discovered by the side of the road.
The reptile zoo’s team noted that temperatures were dangerously low for these African snakes to be left outside.
This incident highlights how crucial responsible pet ownership and education about reptiles are – something Reptilia emphasizes as part of their mission.
The snakes will remain at Reptilia for now and won’t be available for viewing.
Reptilia mentions that ball pythons rank among the most common pet snakes, but they’re also frequently abandoned.
Just last month, a live chicken was discovered left behind at a Pet Valu in Bowmanville.
