Early Saturday morning, two individuals were taken to a hospital with serious injuries due to a shooting that occurred overnight in Pickering, according to officials.

The Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) reported that officers were dispatched to a parking lot near Liverpool Road and Kingston Road just after 1:00 a. m. following reports of gunfire.

When they arrived, officers found two people who had been shot. Both victims were taken to a trauma center in Toronto and are currently in stable condition.

Authorities describe the suspect as a male with light-brown skin. He is about six feet tall with a medium to heavy build and was last seen wearing a jersey-style shirt. Investigators say he escaped the scene in a dark-colored sedan.

Police urge anyone with information to step forward.
