It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and aunt, Maria, who left us peacefully on June 1, 2025, at the age of 87, surrounded by her loving family.
Maria is now reunited in peace with her caring husband, Benedetto, who passed away in 2017. She leaves behind her devoted daughters and their husbands Rosanna & Moritz (Rusch), Donna & Frank (Ieropoli), and Maria & Dave (Perry). Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren-Nico, Marco, Sabrina, and Theo-who she adored and held dear.
She was predeceased by her beloved siblings and their spouses: Frank and Carmela Cervi, Lauretta and Domenico Cervi, Antonio and Maria Cervi, Armando and Letizia Cervi, as well as her brother Joe Cervi. She is fondly remembered by Joe’s wife, Ersilia Cervi. Maria’s kindness touched many lives; she will be missed by her nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy, and the UK along with a wide circle of friends.
Her life was a true reflection of love, generosity, and dedication to family. With a great sense of humor, she faced challenges with a smile. Mom always welcomed people into her home-and especially into her kitchen-but more importantly into her heart. She believed in raising us to be kind-hearted and attentive to those around us. To her, hard work was something to cherish-a sign of health that helped bring happiness even during tough times. By example, Mom showed openness and respect for everyone’s choices. She leaves behind a legacy filled with love and strength that will resonate with all who knew her.
A heartfelt thanks goes out to the doctors and caregivers at the Cardiac Care Unit at Windsor Regional Hospital – Ouellette Campus; especially Dr. Henry Fortuna.
