With heavy hearts, we share the news of Wayne’s peaceful passing at the age of 81 on July 26, 2025. He was a loving husband to Dorothy (nee Landauer) for 30 years. Wayne was a devoted father to Cheryl Tratechaud (Kelly), Jeff Thurlow (Jennifer), John Rivait (Erica), Brenda Chauvin (Bob)(Andy Bonnett, 2022), and Renee Rivait. He took pride in being a grandfather to Kevin, Rachel, Dillon, Lily, Paige, Logan, Kendra (Bobby), Tyler (Courtney), Bradley (Alex), Jayden, Justin and a great-grandfather to Spencer, Andrew, and Wyatt. He was also a caring brother to Doreen Ulch (Karl, 1973), David (Carmen), Roger (Maxine), Glen Kirkpatrick (Val), Colleen Cowin (Allan) and brother-in-law to Linda Azzopardi (Mario). Many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends will miss him dearly as well as his beloved furry friend Lucy.

Wayne was truly a friend to everyone. He was always willing to help anyone in need. With a smile on his face and a generous spirit, he had an amazing talent for fixing almost anything.

A proud member of the Windsor Yacht Club since 1985, Wayne enjoyed playing Euchre with the Club League alongside his daughter Cheryl.

His greatest interests were cars and racing. As a lifelong fan, he particularly loved vintage cars along with his Corvette. You could often find him working under the hood with his son Jeff or cheering for his favorite drivers during NASCAR and drag racing events. Whether he was at the racetrack or tinkering in his garage, Wayne found happiness in speed and power.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff and doctors at Hospice of Windsor for their incredible care and kindness. Memorial Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME – BANWELL CHAPEL, 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. (519-253-7235) on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 3-5 pm and again from 7-9 pm. A private service will be conducted for family only.

If you wish to honor Wayne’s memory in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice of Windsor. Online condolences and treasured memories can be shared with the family at www. windsorchapel. com
