TORONTO – Police have announced that a man from Hamilton, who was wanted for the shooting deaths of two individuals nearly ten years ago, has been apprehended in Mexico.
Hamilton police report that Daniel Mario Tomassetti is now in custody and plans are being made to bring him back to Canada.
In 2018, police issued nationwide arrest warrants for Tomassetti and Michael Cudmore regarding the murders of Angelo Musitano and Mila Barberi, as well as the attempted murder of Saverio Serrano the previous year.
At that time, investigators revealed that Musitano was shot dead in his driveway in Hamilton, while Barberi lost her life and Serrano was injured by gunfire in a parking lot in Vaughan.
Authorities stated that Barberi was not the intended target during the Vaughan shooting.
Tomassetti faces two counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder, and three counts of conspiracy to commit murder.
“At this time, we are not in a position to provide additional details beyond what has already been shared,” Hamilton police said in a statement Wednesday.
“Further information, including details related to his arrest will be released when it is appropriate to do so.”
In 2020, police reported that Cudmore was found dead inside a vehicle on a roadside in Mexico.
