On Thursday around 6:30 p. m., officers were called to 191 Main St. after gunshots were reported. Cops found 19-year-old Talon Williams-Parkin with life-threatening injuries. The victim was taken to hospital, where he died.

In a tragic twist, just two blocks away at Hamilton City Hall, about 200 people gathered to remember another teen who lost his life at Jackson Square mall.>

Nabil Askafe, only 16 years old, was killed on April 24 after what detectives described as a “small interaction” with a younger boy that started several blocks away from the mall. According to police reports, Nabil walked about 100 metres into Jackson Square before being shot and collapsing.>

“A lot of people are asking: How was it possible for a 14-year-old to get a gun?” Imam Sayed Tora, director of the youth centre at Hamilton Muslim Mosque said during a gathering in support of those affected by this incident according to The Spectator.>
