Leland Dakota Sammons Roberts, affectionately called “Leland the Warrior,” was born on August 23, 2006, in Huntsville, Ontario. He brought happiness and a spirit of adventure to everyone around him, living life to the fullest until he was diagnosed at nine with CLN3 Juvenile Battens disease. Leland’s journey highlighted his strength and the love he received from those close to him.
He passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, at Hospice Huntsville, surrounded by his loving family. Leland’s infectious joy and adventurous spirit made a lasting impact on all who had the chance to know him.
Leland is survived by his caring Mommy, Lori Sammons, and his Dad, Ed Roberts (Shelley). He will be greatly missed by his Gramma, Vivian Sammons; little Gramma, Leanna Kingsmill; and Grandpa Ted Coward. Among his family members are Aunt Kristen (Jason) Wills, Dyllon (Makayla) Colby, Uncle Doug (Rose) Roberts, cousins Kissandra and Josh; Uncle Joel (Jenn) Roberts; along with beloved cousins Hannah, Evan, and Sadie. Leland is also preceded in death by his Pa Richard Sammons and Uncle Jesse Coward.
A Celebration of Life for Leland will happen on November 15, 2025, at Billingsley Funeral Home in Huntsville, Ontario. The gathering will start at 2:00 PM and end at 4:00 PM. Family and friends are welcome to come together to celebrate the incredible spirit of Leland-a warrior whose memory will continue to inspire those who loved him.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Huntsville in Memory of Leland would be appreciated.
