Robert Gilles Poirier, aged 77, died peacefully on January 30, 2026, in Ottawa, Ontario.
He was the loving husband of Joanne (Boucher) Poirier for 48 years. Robert was a devoted father to Philippe Poirier (Anik Letourneau), Roxanne Poirier (Geoff Kemp), and Robert Poirier (Emma Thomas). He was also a proud grandfather to Félix, Mikaelle, Eva, and Ivy-Rose.
Robert was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean Poirier and Lucille Poirier (née Laurin), along with his siblings Diane Poirier, Serge Poirier, Michel Poirier, and Rachelle Howard (née Poirier).
He owned and operated Valley Auto Glass and Trim in Ottawa and became a well-known glass mechanic throughout the Ottawa area during the 1980s and 1990s. He took great pride in his work as well as in the connections he made within the community.
A dedicated family man, Robert loved his family deeply and was extremely proud of his grandchildren. He was recognized for his kindness and generosity as well as for being ready to help anyone who needed it. He enjoyed sharing stories from the past and appreciated those who would listen. Robert expressed his feelings openly and treated everyone with warmth.
As per Robert’s wishes, there will be no service held. He didn’t want others to mourn his passing. In his final moments, he was surrounded by those who loved him most.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has sent messages of kindness and support during this challenging time.
