Scott Mc Donald from the St. Thomas Curling Club and Kyle Kurz from the Fort Rouge Curling Club are still undefeated and lead their pools after three days of competition at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship in Swift Current, Sask.

Mc Donald, hailing from St. Thomas, Ont., tops Pool A with a perfect 4-0 record. Teaming up with third Lori Eddy, second Matthew Hall, and lead Laura Neil, he defeated Trevor Bonot’s Northern Ontario squad 8-5 in Tuesday’s morning draw, followed by a win over Tyler Smith’s struggling Prince Edward Island team with a score of 9-5 later on.

Kurz, representing Winnipeg, Man., also leads Pool B at 4-0 alongside teammates third Beth Peterson, second Ian Mc Millan, and lead Melissa Kurz.

Kurz narrowly beat Charles Sullivan’s New Brunswick team 5-3 in the morning draw before handing Jamie Koe’s Northwest Territories crew its first defeat with a decisive 9-4 result.

Paul Flemming’s Nova Scotia team holds second place in Pool A at 4-1, followed closely by Shaun Meachem from Saskatchewan at 3-1. Pierre-Luc Morissette from Quebec sits at 2-2 while Bonot from Northern Ontario has a record of 1-3. Terry Miller of Yukon is at 1-4, and Smith of P. E. I. remains winless at 0-4.

Evan Van Amsterdam’s Alberta team stands second in Pool B with a record of 4-1. They’re followed by Koe’s Northwest Territories team at 3-1 and both Sullivan from New Brunswick and Cameron de Jong from B. C., who sit at 2-2 each. Keith Ryan from Newfoundland and Labrador has yet to win at 0-4 while Peter Van Strien from Nunavut is struggling even more with an unfortunate record of 0-5.

There will be three draws on Wednesday including morning games featuring B. C. vs. New Brunswick, P. E. I. vs. Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador vs. Northwest Territories, along with Saskatchewan facing Ontario.

The championship wraps up on Saturday.
