With heavy hearts, we share the news of Jim Harris’s passing on April 22, 2026, in Brantford, Ontario at the age of 94. He was a loving husband to Susan (Des Rochers). Jim was a dedicated and cherished father to his children: Susan (Dave Howe), Michael (deceased), David, Monica (Cathy Edison), Paul (Ashley), and Anne (Steve Collins). He was also a proud grandfather to Rachel (Chris Baklinski), Matthew (Kayla), Norah Collins, and Willow and Carter Harris. As great-grandfather, he adored Rowan, Juniper, Elian Baklinski, and Joseph Howe. He was predeceased by his parents Spencer and Gertrude (Harwood), his first wife Rosanne (O’Connor), son Michael, and brother-and-sister-in-law Bob and Pat. He is survived by sister-in-law Fran O’Connor and brother- and sister-in-law Mike and Judy Sheridan. Jim was born in Windsor, Ontario but spent most of his life working throughout Ontario before settling in Brantford for the last 58 years. After retiring from corporate work, he spent the next 25 years operating his own business called Harris Financial.
Jim was not just an amazing father; he was a devoted husband who naturally took on leadership roles while mentoring many people along the way. Above all else, he valued friendship with everyone around him. A man of deep faith and spirituality, Jim dedicated much of his time to church activities. His kindness, service to others, and love for both family and community will always be remembered.
Even as dementia gradually affected him, he kept a positive outlook on life while holding onto his sense of humor-always making sure everyone knew what time it was!
A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at St. Pius X Church in Brantford at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow in the church hall.
The family requests that instead of flowers, donations be made to either the Alzheimer’s Society or Stedman Hospice.
