TORONTO – Authorities report that they are searching for three suspects following a shooting that resulted in a man’s death in the west end of Toronto.
Police indicate that gunfire was detected near Scarlett Road and Scarlettwood Court in Etobicoke on Friday evening.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a 30-year-old man who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency procedures were carried out at the scene before he was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
During a press briefing on Saturday, Det. Sgt. Nathan Gibson stated that the victim, who lived in Toronto, was found inside a vehicle parked in a lot.
Gibson mentioned there were several shooters involved and that the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle.
When asked if police think this was a targeted attack, Gibson replied it’s too early to determine that as the investigation is ongoing.
The detective assured local residents that they can expect an increased police presence while authorities continue their investigation and seek witnesses.
“I want to acknowledge how tragic and deeply concerning this incident is for the community, and I want to assure the public that every available resource is being dedicated to identifying and locating those responsible,” he said
The police are encouraging anyone who might have seen the shooting or has any footage of it to reach out to them.
