Arrests Made in St. Catharines Woman’s Fire Incident

Arrests Made in St. Catharines Woman’s Fire Incident

Two individuals have been taken into custody and a woman is being sought after a woman was set on fire while she slept in St. Catharines last weekend.

This incident occurred around 11 p. m. Saturday at an apartment located near Vine and Scott streets.

According to Niagara police, three people reportedly entered the woman’s apartment and ignited a fire while she was asleep.

Paramedics quickly transported her to the hospital, where she received treatment for severe burns to her face and upper body.

Investigators indicate that the victim is acquainted with the suspects involved.

On Monday, authorities arrested 25-year-old Chassidy Archer from St. Catharines, charging her with attempted murder and breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence.

30-year-old Moises Medeiros, also from St. Catharines, was arrested as well, facing charges of attempted murder, carrying a concealed weapon, breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence, along with two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

Archer and Medeiros are scheduled for a bail hearing on Tuesday in St. Catharines.

A warrant has been issued for 37-year-old Rebecca Daigneault of St. Catharines on charges of attempted murder, breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence, as well as failing to comply with a probation order.
