A man from Kitchener is facing multiple charges after being discovered asleep at the wheel on a highway in Hamilton.
According to a social media post from the Ontario Provincial Police, officers from their Burlington detachment responded to several calls about a vehicle halted in the middle lane of westbound Highway 403 near the Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway.
Upon arrival, they found the driver unresponsive and, after “numerous unsuccessful attempts” to rouse him, they broke one of the car’s windows.
The OPP reported that the driver “showed obvious signs of impairment” and was subsequently arrested.
They noted that he blew 2.5 times over the legal limit.
The 23-year-old from Kitchener now faces charges for operating while impaired-both due to alcohol and drugs-as well as for blood alcohol concentration exceeding 80.
He has received a 90-day license suspension, and his vehicle will be impounded for seven days.
