A new ambassador for 4-H Ontario has been announced, and she comes from West Perth.

The four new ambassadors will promote and support the 4-H program throughout the province in 2025. Among them is Claire Mc Corkindale, who lives just outside Mitchell in Fullarton and represents the Perth 4-H Association. The other ambassadors include Josh Brander from the Wellington 4-H Association, along with Paige Grant and Sidney Sicard from the Grey 4-H Association.

The term for the new ambassadors began on March 22 at a luncheon in Richmond Hill organized by 4-H Ontario.

During her eight years with 4-H, Mc Corkindale has completed a total of 19 projects through the Perth 4-H Association. She’s also an active member of her community; previously serving as an ambassador for the Mitchell Fair representing the Mitchell & District Agricultural Society and volunteering with both the Foal Watch program at Ontario Veterinary College and University of Guelph’s Take a Paws initiative.

Mc Corkindale expressed her desire to become a 4-H Ontario ambassador because “I love to meet new people and spread knowledge.”

“Through a previous fair ambassador program I learned that I am comfortable talking in front of crowds and to new people,” she said. “Being in an environment of like-minded farming individuals is refreshing and teaching non-rural people about farming is something I am passionate about. I think 4-H is an amazing organization which bridges this gap and I am honoured to become a 4-H Ontario ambassador!”

The ambassador program has been providing specialized training in leadership, citizenship, communications, and public relations for youth over its twenty-year history sponsored by Growmark, Inc. The role allows these ambassadors to use their skills to attract new participants into the program while sharing what makes being part of it special.

The newly appointed ambassadors will take part in various events throughout Ontario promoting awareness about what being involved with their local clubs can offer.
