WASAGA BEACH – The Town of Wasaga Beach is excited to announce a significant achievement for local students, families, and residents as the Province of Ontario adds an extra $4.5 million in funding and allows the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board to move forward with the construction tender for the Town’s first high school and community hub.
This project benefits from a total investment of $64.9 million, which includes $62.2 million in provincial funds along with a $2.7 million contribution from the Town of Wasaga Beach aimed at enhancing theatre facilities that will provide more opportunities for students and residents.
The groundbreaking project will create 1,008 new student spaces, 49 licensed childcare spots, and shared amenities like a 300-seat theatre and a track-and-field facility.
The new school will be Wasaga Beach’s first high school. It’s set to become an essential community center that supports student education while offering residents shared spaces for learning, recreation, and arts activities. Additionally, it will benefit local families by keeping more students in the area and reducing daily commutes for around 800 high school students.
