June 23, 1937 – April 17, 2026

Mrs. Patricia “Patsy” Annette Hannaford (née Bodner), age 88 years, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2026 in St. Joseph’s Hospice, surrounded by her family. She is now reunited with her loving husband Kenneth and daughter Rosanne.

Patricia was born in Fort William, Ontario on June 23, 1937 to Anne (née Hlady) and John Bodner. She went to Crawford School for elementary education and met her childhood sweetheart Kenneth in Grade 3. They graduated together from Fort William Vocational High School. Ken and Patsy tied the knot on August 23, 1958 at Broadway United Church with Rev. Harold Alston officiating their ceremony. They celebrated nearly 56 wonderful years of marriage until Ken’s passing in 2014. For their golden anniversary, they renewed their vows with Rev. Jack White presiding.

During her teenage years, she participated in C. G. I. T., and was also a member of the St. John Nursing Cadets. In addition to that, she enjoyed ice skating and swimming during her youth.

Her career as a Stenographer took her to Winnipeg but brought her back to Fort William when she married Ken. She continued working at various branches of the Royal Bank until retirement.

Patricia and Kenneth were dedicated members of Broadway United Church. They both joined the Daylin James Fan Club and particularly loved his Elvis performances. Patricia also looked forward to her weekly TOPS meetings.

She is survived by her children Lorelei Kawchuk, Sherry Smith (John Reid), Kenneth Jr. (Monique) all from Thunder Bay, along with Patricia Pollen (Micheal) from Winnipeg; son-in-law Joseph Tropea; grandchildren Dallas, Crystal, Shannon, Gordon, Rocky, Bradley and Faith; great-grandchildren Brianna, Abbigayle, Chloe, Preston, Alexis, Edison (EJ), Madelyn; sisters-in-law Doris and Joyce; plus many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Patricia was predeceased by husband Kenneth; daughter Rosanne Tropea; parents John and Anne Bodner; brother Roy Rodger; grandson Nicholas Holmquist; great-grandson Landon Smith; son-in-law William Kawchuk; parents-in-law Leslie and Elizabeth Hannaford; brothers-in-law Leslie, David and Gerald Hannaford; nephew Gerald Hannaford; along with her grandparents and many aunts, uncles and extended family members.

The funeral service for Mrs. Patricia Hannaford will take place on Wednesday April 22nd at 11:00 AM in the WESTFORT CHAPEL located at 420 West Gore Street at James with Lori Jansekovich officiating the service. Interment will follow at Mountainview Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM in the Chapel.

If friends wish to make a donation in memory of Patricia to the Heart and Stroke Foundation it would be greatly appreciated.

Patricia was a fantastic wife, mother, grandmother & friend who will be missed dearly by everyone.
