The town’s Recreation and Sports Advisory Committee chose Campbell for this recognition during their selection process for the class of 2026. There will be additional engraving on an existing plaque honoring the longtime NHL figure and banners displayed inside the Colin Campbell Community Arena.

The committee also announced its induction class for 2026 which includes athletes Judy Liwanpo, Karen Liwanpo, Christine Liwanpo, Remi Donaldson, along with the Senior Men’s Tillsonburg Track & Field team and builder Steve Garnham.

The Induction Ceremony for the Sports Hall of Fame is scheduled for May 21 at the Tillsonburg Community Centre.

Chris Parker, chair of the Recreation and Sports Advisory Committee and town councillor remarked that a new scoring system used to evaluate nominees streamlined this year’s selection process significantly.

“The point system based on the applications made things go very smoothly,” he added. “In previous years, it was a long process and having a rating system with points awarded for each area simplified things considerably.”

CIP rebate update

Tillsonburg’s Community Improvement Plan tax rebates totaled $167,868 across ten properties in 2025. Two properties joined last year while one left and will now pay full property taxes.

Total rebates were $151,329 for nine properties in 2024.</P

The rebates are determined by increases in assessment related to improvements as assessed by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC). The Year 1 rebate is given after a full year that the property has been reassessed.</P

Six new properties are anticipated to join between 2026 and 2028.</P

The annual budget for property tax write-offs has been set at $250,000 since 2022 but was raised by $150,000 to $400,000 for 2026 to account for four new CIP property tax rebates expected to issue their Year 1 rebate soon.  </P

The estimated total for CIP property tax rebates is projected at $374,408 in 2026; $552,520 in 2027; and $577,092 thereafter.</P
