An instructor at a combat training center in Oakville, known for teaching traditional fighting skills, has been arrested for assaulting a teenage student.
According to Halton Regional Police, Robert Lapier, 69, from Oakville, is facing charges of sexual assault and sexual interference.
The alleged incidents occurred at Silver Sword Armories on Burnhamthorpe Road East in Oakville, where Lapier works as an archery instructor. The victim is a young female who was taking lessons there.
Silver Sword Armories offers classes in various forms of medieval and renaissance combat including quarterstaff techniques, axe and knife throwing, swordplay, pistol shooting, and archery.
Lapier remains in custody while awaiting a bail hearing in Milton.
Authorities are still investigating the case and encourage anyone with information about other incidents to reach out to the Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit at 905-825-4777 ext. 8970.
