Nello Modolo passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of his life, Mirella (Cocchetto), with whom he enjoyed 56 wonderful years of marriage and family. He was born in Azzano X, Italy, on April 21st, 1942.
He has reunited with his parents Giovanni and Anna, along with his older brother Ferruccio. He was also a brother-in-law to Alba Modolo.
Nello will be greatly missed by his sister Maria Teresa (the late Pietro Cusinato). He was predeceased by his in-laws Augusto and Augusta Cocchetto.
As for brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, he is survived by the late Clara, the late Giuseppe and late Carla Marcon, the late Bruno and late Lia Cocchetto, the late Luigi and Delini Cocchetto, the late Giuseppe and Ida Cocchetto, Aldina and the late Bruno Cusinato, as well as the late Carlo, Giancarlo and Eleanor Cocchetto, the late Franco and Luciana Cocchetto, along with Loredana and John Naccarato.
He will forever be loved by many nephews, nieces, friends, and neighbors.
Nello had a passion for reading history books. As a master carpenter by trade, he was also part of the Fogolar Furlan Club and participated in the Fogolar Tug of War Team. He enjoyed hockey and soccer; his favorite teams were the Chicago Blackhawks and Juventus.
Mirella would like to express her gratitude to Dr. Kaczmarek, Dr. Youssef, Dr. Nassar, and Dr. Anchan for their care for Nello. She also thanks Dr. Hatam and all nurses at the hospital for ensuring that his passing was peaceful.
Family members and friends are invited to visit Windsor Chapel – South Chapel (3048 Dougall Ave., 519-253-7236) on Friday April 3rd 2026 from 3pm-7pm; prayers will take place at 4pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday April 4th 2026 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church (804 Grand Marais Rd. E) starting at 9:30am until Liturgy of the Word begins at 10:00am. Entombment will follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
